HEOP

Higher Education Opportunity Program

 What is HEOP?

The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program is a partnership between the State of New York and Boricua College. It was created to provide a broad range of academic and financial services to New York State residents who otherwise would be unable to attend a postsecondary educational institution.

WHAT DOES HEOP OFFER YOU?

SUMMER PROGRAM:

All incoming first-year students are required to enroll in an intensive 5-week pre-freshman program. This helps students transition well to the demands and expectations of college.

ACADEMIC ADVISING:

Students meet with their faculty facilitators throughout the academic year to implement and evaluate a program of learning designed to meet educational needs and career aspirations. Students are also assigned a HEOP counselor, that provides
strategic planning, guidance, and unique advising support.

FINANCIAL AID:

Students that are selected into HEOP receive a full need financial aid package that consists of funding such as; Tuition Assistance Program, Pell Grant, Campus Scholarships, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, and HEOP Assistance.

TUTORING:

Professional and student tutors are available to help students develop effective study skills that lead to academic success. HEOP Students also have support from their Writing Specialist who oversees the Tutoring Department. The Writing Specialist assists each student in essay drafting, revisions, and ensures that each student has access to a tutor from any academic field they require.
